This section reports publicly available, descriptive data about Adult Day Health Care facilities (ADHC) in California. There are no publicly reported quality of care measures available.

ADHC provide an organized day program of health, therapeutic, and social services to adults aged 18 years and older who require ongoing nursing care and observation (e.g., diabetes management), medical rehabilitation, and/or who are at risk of institutional placement due to chronic mental health or developmental disabilities, or cognitive impairment Services include nutritional meals; social activities; nursing services and counseling; occupational, speech, and physical therapy; and psychological services. This program is overseen by the California Department of Aging. Most ADHCs are also approved by the Department of Health Care Services to provide care to Medi-Cal managed care beneficiaries (this program is called Community-based Adult Services [CBAS]).

Average daily attendance shows the average number of clients in attendance on any given day in the one-month reporting period.  Because this is an average, this number may change day-to-day. Consumers may want to compare the average daily attendance with the Care Capacity to get a feel for how crowded a facility may be.

Certain types of care, such as Alzheimer’s/Dementia, that may be provided by ADHCs require regulatory certification in addition to the facility license. This section shows the categories of care provided over the last year. These data may not reflect the types of care currently provided. This section shows the days of the week that the ADHC provides care to clients. Most ADHCs offer services during the work week, while fewer offer weekend hours.
